Merry Christmas to us... a wee bit early!

I never knew I would be so excited and relieved to trade in a car.

My 2005 1/2 Jetta was a ticking time bomb... the driver's side door had no power, therefore, I couldn't roll down the windows, pop the trunk, unlock the gas tank cover, lock the doors, use the key-less remote or have a normal looking dash. Since the driver's side door had no power, the computer always thought the driver's side door was ajar, so it beeped that annoying beep for the first thirty seconds of the ignition being turned. It was so annoying and the beeping sound made me crazy most days. But let's not forget the new tires I bought in December of 2008 - they were the loudest tires I have ever heard and progressively they became louder and louder. But wait, there's more - the check engine light came on at least once a month among other problem indicators. I've never had a vehicle that caused me more headaches than Jesse the Jetta. It was a good ride, but I'm so relieved she is being passed on to someone else. I don't think the dealership knows what they are getting into... but that's not my problem now especially since yesterday afternoon the check engine light made another appearance.

We had the best buying experience at Sam Swope and our salesman was honest, hard-working, did not pressure us at all, answered all our questions, was very knowledgeable of the vehicle and gave car salesman's a good reputation. They gave us a good deal on our trade and we made out like a bandit with our new car. We bought a black 2009 Honda CR-V EXL. It is the cutest SUV, but drives like a car. Plus, the gas mileage is very similar to what I got with my Jetta, which is a huge bonus. We didn't want a huge SUV gas guzzler, but we wanted something other than a car. The Honda reputation sold us so we know it will run forever. Rich has never had any issues with either of his Honda's so this was his first choice.

I did a lot of research online over the last couple of weeks and we narrowed our search to a Chevrolet Equinox, Nissan Murano or Honda CR-V. All the reviews I read pointed in the direction of the CR-V. I found a silver Equinox and our CR-V online at Sam Swope Cadillac so we went there first on Saturday. The Equinox sold on Friday night so it was no longer an option. The salesman knew we wanted something of comparable size so we ventured over to the Honda lot. We drove a 2008 CR-V but we weren't crazy about the color. Rich wanted to drive the black one so we did just than and fell in love. We thought about it over the weekend and decided we wanted to buy it so we did just that last night.

I feel confident we made a good decision, but anything is better than my hunk of junk Jetta. I've had two other Jetta's in the past and neither of those caused me any headaches... I think my most recent Jetta rolled off the assembly line a lemon and remained that way ever since.
