We baked last Sunday for family so this weekend we baked for friends and co-workers. I baked Friday night at my condo for friends but only had time to create two items - chocolate chip cookies and Italian Wedding Cakes. I wish time had allowed (I was up until 3 AM!) for more baked goods, but regardless, I had fun doing so. Rich and I played Santa and delivered cookies Saturday morning to all our local friends.
Yesterday, my Mom and I baked for six solid hours! We use my grandmother's sugar cookie recipe and it is to die for. My Mom gets special requests each and every year from friends and family. The secret is not to brown the cookie at all, not even the bottom. I am working on perfecting the recipe, but my Mom's seem to always taste better. We made 220 sugar cookies which took forever to frost. That is the most time consuming portion, but well worth it in the end.
Along with the Sugar Cookies, we made Hello Dollie bars, Peanut Butter Fudge, Italian Wedding Cakes and Buckeyes.
Thursday night we will make more goodies for Christmas Eve, but it makes me sad because that means the spirit of Christmas is coming to an end.
I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and may 2011 bring happy memories, good health and lots of smiles.
