Weekend Wrap-up

Friday night we traveled to Winchester to hang out with Rich's family. The main reason for our trip was to help my father-in-law celebrate his 60th birthday which was Wednesday of last week. He had two surprise parties the week prior to the Big 6-0 so he was pretty much partied out by the time the weekend rolled around.

Our visit was short but sweet, which seems to be the trend when we visit Winchester. I could stay there for days - there is nothing better than the peacefulness of the farm and the beauty that surrounds the house. Plus, Lexington is a 20 minute drive so the big city is within reach. Growing up in the city my entire life allows me to appreciate the countryside and the calmness that is in the air. The dogs have a ball running freely across the fields which always brings a smile to my face.

We made some memories with Reagan (5 1/2) and Clay (2 1/2) that will last a lifetime. I am making my sister-in-law a ceramic platter for Mother's Day from the kiddos using their hand prints as the body of a horse. I can't wait to finish my piece at The Paint Spot and see the reaction on Janna's face when she opens her gift. Hopefully Reagan can keep a secret...!

All that hard work deserves a high five!
Here is the beginnings of our platter:
Here is what the finished product will look like:
