Tyler Time- One Month Old

Tyler - One Month
  • You like to sit and cuddle, but you also really enjoy to wiggle.
  • You are a bit impatient when you think you are starving, but we don't mind. We've just learned to move quick!
  •  You love your milk and every time it is time to eat, you act like you haven't eaten in weeks.
  • From day one, you have been a very good eater and got the hang of it rather quickly.  At three weeks old, we introduced the bottle and you accepted it as though you had always been fed using a bottle.  You are such a smart little guy.
  • The first two weeks, you got the hiccups and sneeze SO often. The hiccups annoyed you. We gave you "Gripe Water" but we really haven't given you that in about two weeks now as it really didn't help to cure them.  You have accepted that they will always come, every day and seem to be OK with them.  Thank goodness.  Although, we hate it that that they come every single day.  We hate it though because they seem to annoying.
  • Your right eye gets crusties on it almost every day, primarily in the morning after you've been asleep for a long time or after a long nap.  You went to see the pediatrician about it when you were two weeks old as a precaution to make sure you didn't have a blocked tear duct, but the doctor wasn't concerned.  She told us to wipe it with a warm wash cloth and move the cloth in a downward motion on your eye to help to open up the tear duct.
  • Your eyelids have been really red since you were born, but the doctor assured us that is it common in newborns and can be a "birth mark" from when you were born - it was brutal on your little body.
  • You were 6 lbs., 15.4 oz at birth, 6 lbs., 7.5 ounces at discharge and 6 lbs., 8.5 oz at your one month appointment.  The doctor was impressed that you had gained an ounce from discharge when we went the Monday after we came home.  It was a routine visit for the doctor could make sure you were gaining weight as you should.
  • You are eating every 2 hours during the day and we are working on night stretches. Right now, about 10 pm, 12 am, 3 am and 6am is what we are close to. Then 8 am starting the day routine over again.
  • You are a chill baby. Most of the time, when not hungry or tired, you love to just sit back, relax and look around. You don't have much of a temper and we can tell you are so sweet.
  • The only time you get ticked is when you get your diaper changed. You just aren't a fan.
  •  You have tinkled on us and we just forgot to be prepared.
  • Right now, you take a bottle of formula close to bedtime to get your belly full.  We just introduced formula because I wasn't producing enough milk in the evening to satisfy your growing tummy. We thought a bottle would allow us to know how much you are getting and know you are getting a full tummy. You take about 3 ounces right now.
  • Sometimes you choke on your own saliva which is scary because nine times out of ten you are sitting in your boppy or bouncy seat.  We rush over, raise you up and pat you on the back.  You have a very scared look on your face when this happens and it breaks my heart.
  • You are sleeping in your bouncy seat. You are not a fan of your crib; I think you like to be snug as a bug and don't like wide open spaces.  I think your crib is just too big for your sweet little self.
  •  You love bath time.  It's warm and cozy to you.
  • You despise tummy time and get really fussy while doing so. We are working on it, but it's a challenge.  You move your head side to side but you aren't there long enough to push up with your arms.  I know we'll get there eventually.
  • You were raising your head strongly very early on and you have very strong legs.
  • It seems as though you have lost quite a bit of your hair since birth and have developed a bit of a curl on the top.  We can't mohawk your hair like we did when you were first born but that's OK.
  • You are starting to grin in your sleep.
  • It is easy to determine your cry.
  • You are ticklish on your sides.
  • It's funny when you have a shewy in your britches after feeding, you clench your fists and squish up your face.  You always have a shewy in a clean diaper.  Always.
  • You are starting to coo some.
  • You like to look out the window while sitting in your boppy lounger.
  • You've been pretty wide-eyed since you were born. You have pretty eyes and you like to look around.  When you are awake, you are extremely alert.  A lot of people comment on how alert you are.
  • You hate to have your nose suctioned. Is there a baby that doesn't?
  •  You get really red when you are mad and your skin flares up with red blotches all over it.  This is rare, because you are a very content little guy.
  •  You are just the best thing that ever happened to our family.  We can't get enough of you, little man.
  • You enjoy riding in your car-seat in the car.  Most often you fall asleep, but once the car stops moving and you are waking up with a hungry belly, you will fuss, but once the car begins to move, you calm down and go back to sleep.
I never knew I could love someone so much.  I wouldn't change you being part of our lives for the world.  I love taking you places; you are my little sidekick.
