I would say he weighs about 19-19.5 pounds these days. He is sort of getting into the crawling position, but doesn't know what to do with his legs or knees. Before we know it though, he's going to take off. Each and every day be becomes more of a best friend to Kody. He laughs at Kody every chance he gets. He loves that dog and Kody feels the same way. I had Tyler in his 'office' last night while I was cooking and I hear lots of laughter so I turn to look over and Tyler is feeding Kody some of his 'num-num.' It made my heart melt, and Kody thinks Tyler is even more special now that they share snacks.
He got his first tooth on December 28th and the second popped through shortly thereafter on January 11th. Teething hasn't bothered his as much as I had anticipated. We do give him Tylenol every now and then if he acts fussy and we don't know what is wrong. That usually settles him down.
He loves riding in grocery carts so he can look around at his surroundings. He also seems to enjoy people watching and anytime he hears a baby babbling or crying, it grabs his attention immediately and he turns to find the baby or small child. He is very in tune to other children.
I do think Tyler is going through separation anxiety. He is having some trouble sleeping and I would like to blame it on being away from me all day while at daycare. We are pushing through and things seems to be getting a little better.
Every now when visiting friends or family, he cries when someone else tries to pick him up. He gives a look as though he just isn't sure and will cling to my shoulder. I have read that this is just a phase and should pass quickly. This is new to us because before now, he was a social butterfly and would let anyone hold him. I know people won't take it personally, but it makes me sad when someone wants to love on him but he just isn't having it. I have seen where if someone tries to hold him after he warms up to the situation, he will usually go to them but sometimes looks at me for approval.
Tyler will sit on his may and play with his balls and blocks very independently He loves to toss everything out of his bucket when we fill it back up. Geoffrey the Giraffe is still his favorite teether toy, but anything and everything he can get his hands on becomes a new favorite.
He is very interested in anything and everything we are holding or touching. He loves our cell phones and immediately wants to put them into his mouth. We are working on letting him hold the phone without it going in his mouth. Some days are better than others.
He is eating breakfast, lunch and dinner and is getting the hang of picking food up and putting it in his mouth. At first, he would pick it up, take it to his mouth, but wouldn't release the food to chew it. I would say this is a learned trait because before food, everything went to his mouth, but he never would let go of it because he would chew on everything. With food though, he is learning to release it into his mouth. I know in a few weeks he will have this mastered.
Daycare began to introduce 'real' food. He eats bagels, biscuits, pancakes, french toast and fruit for breakfast. Some lunch entrees have been pizza, chili mac, sandwiches, grilled cheese, cheese quesadilla and vegetables. He apparently has a ball feeding himself while sitting at the table with the older babies.
He still only takes four ounces in his bottles. He wakes twice a night for a bottle, typically around 1 AM and 4 AM. I blame this on him not finishing bottles during the day or even sometimes skipping a bottle. I think he plays catch up during the night. Most of the time, he will only drink three of the four ounces in his bottle during the day.
Tyler's typical day:
9:30 AM - bottle
10:30 AM - breakfast - 'real' food
11 - 12:30 - nap
12:30 - bottle and lunch food
Play
3-4 - nap
4 - bottle
play
Sometimes he takes a bottle before dinner about 6, other times he doesn't. It depends a lot on how his day went at daycare. I feed him dinner about 6 and at 8 PM before his bath, he gets some oatmeal After his bath, he gets a bedtime bottle and falls fast asleep Getting Tyler to sleep isn't the problem, it's getting him to sleep through the night without waking. But, every baby is different and I feel confident that as he gets older, his sleeping pattern will be much better.
The jump-a-roo is still a favorite of Ty man's. He now gets a lot of air when he's jumping and he goes to town. He really likes it when we jump with him so he can watch us. Anytime I know he needs to let some energy escape, the jump-a-roo is the place for that to happen.
Each and every day is a new adventure full of learning. I love to watch him play and use his hands and feet. He is one special boy that melts my heart. I wouldn't trade motherhood for the world.
