Tyler was nine months old this past Friday. NINE. That seems entirely too close to a year for me, but we will be celebrating his first year of life in a blink of an eye. I still have no idea how the past nine months have gone so quickly. My baby is growing up so fast.
He weighs 19 pounds, 11 ounces which is the 50th percentile for weight. He is 29 1/4 inches long, which is the 75-85th percentile for height. His head is 18" which falls into the 75th percentile.
Tyler isn't crawling yet, but if I was a betting person, I would say he will take off within the next couple of weeks. He gets up like he wants to move, but just doesn't know how to make that happen.
He scoots on his bottom and he will chase after a toy if it rolls away. He knows how to move, just not in a crawling sort of way.
He isn't pulling up on anything yet by himself, but he loves to stand up and stand against a table, dresser, couch, you name it. When he doesn't want to sit down, he will kick his legs out and make them as stiff as a board so you can't sit him on his bottom. He is one strong willed little dude.
He is eating pretty good, but I'm feeling a little stump on what to give them. I just never know what to fix him for dinner. I still give him some pureed baby food, especially vegetables and fruit. He loves 'real' bananas, oranges, grilled cheese, mixed vegetables, steamed carrots, potatoes, puffs, num nums, toast, biscuits, pancakes, eggs, spaghetti, pizza, cheese quesadila and chili mac.
Tyler still wears size 3 diapers, but when Rich bought a box of diapers at Costco last week, he went ahead and upgraded to size 4. I know they will be a little big, but not too big. We learned the hard way with him outgrowing diapers so now we try and be proactive.
Tyler waves bye-bye backwards, but he doesn't know what it means or won't do it on cue. He loves to make the bye-bye motion with his fingers and scoot toys across his high chair tray. It's a fun game to watch everything go flying across the tray. This game keeps him occupied for a fairly long time. He seems to really enjoy sitting in his high chair and playing while I do stuff in the kitchen.
Tyler has two teeth, only on the bottom.
He wears 9 and 12 month clothing.
Before long I think we will be transitioning him to a big boy car seat, but hopefully this won't happen until closer to one year.
He still naps twice a day, typically for an hour to an hour and a half each time. Weekends are a bit trickier He just doesn't want to nap well, unless we are in the car and he falls asleep in his car seat. I think a lot of it has to do with him being home with us on the weekends and not at day care. Our sweet boy just doesn't want to miss out on anything.
Tyler is so laid back and a pretty content baby most of the time. He loves to play with his toys but also loves one on one interaction. He loves to laugh and giggle.
We have begun a sleep training regimine because he has some issues still with sleeping. He seems to wake a couple times a night fussing. Our system has worked the past couple of nights, although last night was tough. He does have a cold so I think that is the reason for him not sleeping well at all last night and wanting to be held a lot.
He got so used to us always being there anytime he woke up fussing in the night because we feared he was sick with another ear infection or the stomach bug. Now that the tubes have been placed and are working, I am not as concerned about him being sick so I felt that it was time to get him back on a better sleep schedule. Don't get me wrong, he sleeps a lot during the night, just not straight through without waking.
He takes a bath at 8 PM and is fast asleep by 9 if not sooner. He was sleeping until 8-8:30, but the past few mornings, he has woken at 7 AM.
I am anxious to see what new changes this month brings, but not excited about him being so much closer to one.
