1st leg of the Triple Crown - complete!

Saturday morning was the first leg of the Triple Crown series, The Anthem 5K. This year, the race began at 8 AM rather than the usual 8:30 AM as in past years. Louisville had a boatload of rain on Thursday, which resulted in flooding along the race course, therefore, race officials had to map out a new route, which in turn was a hair longer than your typical 5K. We ran 3.2 miles instead of 3.1 which meant the race course was no longer certified.

We met up with some friends (Seth, Heather and Paige) who are running the Triple Crown series as well. Heather is pregnant with their third child, but she still plans to run all three races. Her husband, Seth, is training to run the full 26.2 Derby Festival Marathon, but a heel injury has sidelined him for a bit. He plans to run the 10K with all of us in two weeks, but will only tackle the half marathon rather than the full due to his injury.

Regardless, we all had a fantastic time and look forward to the Rodes City Run 10K on March 12th.

Rich beat me by 1:03 - say it ain't so!

My time: 29:05
Rich's time: 28:02

Happy running!
