Tyler Time - Three Months

Tyler Time - Three Months Old

Our best boy turned three months old today.  How did that happen?  I need time to slow down just a little because Tyler is growing up too fast.  I never realized time would pass this quickly - I blinked and he has grown so much.

He is just so precious and sweet.  Most days, my face hurts at the end of the day from smiling and talking to him.  He gives the most heart melting smiles and his giggles are the best.  My brother had him belly laughing a few weeks ago - I wish I could have captured it on video because he was rolling.

This month has been wonderful as he has changed so much.  His personality is really shining through. I am soaking in every single day because they pass by too quickly.

He doesn't go to the doctor for a three month check up so my guess is that he weighs about 12 pounds now.  He was 11 pounds 5 ounces at his two month visit.  He isn't putting on a lot of weight, he just seems to be getting longer.  You can tell he's filling out though in his face.  Our boy loves to eat and is serious about his bottle and nursing.

He still wears three and six month clothing.  Six month is a little big, but not too bad.

Tyler had his first encounter with a cold or possibly allergies.  I developed it first, then I noticed his nosy was 'snotty' as well.  He had one rough night that involved the nose suction bulb which wasn't very fun.  It took both Rich and I to get his nose cleaned out and poor thing hated every second.  He was much better the next morning, but I kept him out of day care since it was a Friday so he was able to spend the day with Mamaw Dot and Papaw Bob.  I thought if it was a little cold, he would have all weekend to recoup without being exposed to the day care germs again, but it only lasted a day.  I still notice some days that he sniffles a bit so I hope he isn't going to be plagued by allergies.  Neither Rich or I had allergies as a kid; we've both somehow developed them later in life.  It has been so dry in Louisville that I believe dust and pollen are floating around like crazy since we are going through a drought so that may very well be the culprit.  It seems like most people I know have the sniffles.

Tyler still isn't very good at tummy time.  He does hold his head up a bit, but not as much as other babies I see.  We are working very hard and I feel confident he'll master this in no time.

His hair seems to be fading fast and this just seemed to have happened overnight.  He likes to rest his head on the left side when he sleeps so that part is going bald rather quickly.  His hair on the back of his head is doing just fine.  His eyelashes are extremely long and seem to be getting much darker.  I absolutely love them and that is one of the first things people comment on when they meet him.

He has discovered his tongue, fingers and hands and boy are they delicious.  He loves to chew on them.  He still isn't a huge fan of a paci, but will sometimes take one when he's tired, wants to suck but isn't hungry.  The downfall to the paci is that we have to hold it in his mouth because he immediately spits it out after the first suck. I'm not sure why he won't keep it in his mouth.

He is learning to mock us some and will imitate sounds that we speak.  He loves to coo, cah and laugh.

He has a pretty good schedule where he will nap, eat, play, repeat.  During the day, sometimes he will be up for longer periods of time, sometimes even three to four hours.  He seems to be taking naps fairly well at day care which is good.  He typically naps between 9:30-10 AM and will snooze for an hour, two or three then will wake, eat, play, eat then fall asleep.  I am trying to get day care to work on getting him on a regular schedule that we will mimic on the weekend.

In the evenings, we bathe him about 8 PM, read him a book and feed him.  Sometimes he wants to play in his crib with his mobile and ocean wonders light up sound machine before he eats.  I nurse him and give him a bottle so his belly is good and full.  He will then fall asleep about 10 PM, wake about 3 AM to eat, then sleep until 6:30-7 AM.  Some nights he will wake up twice, but that is rare.

Day care swaddles him with his arms inside the swaddle so at night I've been swaddling him, but leaving his arms out.  He likes to sleep with his arms straight up and resting by his head so I don't want to take that way.  I think being fully swaddled at day cares makes him feel more secure.  He doesn't seem to wake himself up with his arm being out of the swaddle, so I'm OK with it that way.

He loves for people to talk loudly to him and will most always respond with a giant smile and some sounds.  It is the most precious thing ever.  He loves his Daddy and Grammy.

We just love him to pieces and can't get enough of his sweetness.

Here are some pics of our best boy.  Enjoy!
