Apparently it was indeed towed; the tow truck driver complied by reporting to the police it had been towed, but the police never updated their records. The detective working on the case was asking around/investigating and discovered the truck in the impound lot. He called Brian with the good news while he was in class and now B is going to pick up his truck. The detective feels horrible because it was a huge error on the police department’s end and has caused a lot of headaches. The President of Cooley emailed Brian last week upon notification from the security department that his truck had been stolen. He received several emails from faculty at Cooley which I found to be extremely thoughtful especially since most were professors Brian has never had. At least his email to them yesterday had much better news than his first response.
Apparently the hair design school has five reserved parking spots (even though a sign is not posted) in the lot where Brian always parks. He parked in one of their reserved spots last Tuesday and a private towing company towed his truck. However, before the tow truck can tow a vehicle, the driver has to call and give the police the VIN# so they can document that the vehicle has been towed and give an authorization code. The PD did that, but failed to document the truck’s VIN # in their computer system, therefore when Brian called the police, the officer did not show that the truck was towed. And, no one knew until this morning.
Brian said the detective was humiliated and told him to file a complaint with the police department. And, Brian is also contacting the hair design school to tell them to put signs on their reserved spots. The police officer and tow truck driver told Brian today that every other spot in the lot is available and nothing else is reserved so he parked his big green monster in gravel at the top of the hill inside the lot. He’s not getting towed again!
I haven’t heard excitement in his voice in days, but when he called me yesterday with the good news, I was elated.
