"You are 31 going on Golden Girl" was Rich's response to my birthday present request. Last year he bought me a new vacuum cleaner and this year I so thankfully received a black KitchenAid stand mixer. I have wanted one of these for some time now and when my hand mixer went on the fritz a couple months ago in the midst of mixing peanut butter cookie dough, I decided now was a fine time to splurge.
I have used my mixer many times since it arrived and hands down, this machine is a beast. I never realized how much easier baking/cooking would be when you can toss in all the ingredients and turn on the switch. While my dough is mixing, I am able to clean the kitchen, seal packages and wash dishes. I love my new mixer!
Since it was purchased at Bed Bath & Beyond, I received a rebate for a free attachment so I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of the slicer/shredder tool. In addition there are a number of other attachments you can purchase:
- Food grinder
- Pasta roller / cutter
- Ravioli roller
- Pasta sheet roller
- Ice cream maker
- Vegetable/fruit strainer
On my actual birthday, my Mom, Rich and I celebrated with a birthday dinner at Buckhead's. I had a restaurant.com coupon for $25 off a $35 purchase so our dinner was cheap and we left with our bellies full.
Friday night Rich and I went to Senor Iguana's with Ryan and Allyson. It was a great time had by all. We haven't seen The Hamilton's in quite some time so there was a lot of catching up to do. They will soon be proud parents of a little one of which they are not finding out the sex. Regardless, Baby H will be precious and adorable as ever. Come February they will be holding Harper Elizabeth or Jackson Ryan Hamilton. I love the idea of the surprise and I can't wait to do the same.
Last night I had dinner with Jennifer, Lauren and Samantha. We try to get together a couple times a month and we have been successful at doing so. The original plan was to visit Chuy's, a new Tex-Mex restaurant in town but the wait was an hour and fifteen minutes. After hearing that news, we ventured across the parking lot and landed at Bravo's Italian Restaurant. The food was delish, company was great and memories were made.
