Halloween Weekend

What a busy weekend we had! Rich made it home safely from Destin, FL late Friday evening so we had a very late dinner at our favorite cheap Mexican place, El Tarasco. Rich was exhausted from his trip so we went to bed early and slept in on Saturday morning.

Rich naturally woke up before I did so he took the dogs to the park for their daily run. By the time he got home, I was awake and began cleaning the condo. I scrubbed every thing from top to bottom, including the tile and grout. It was a job, but something that I enjoy doing. I am always cleaning something, but each week I don't always scrub the floors like I did on Saturday morning. It is such a nice feeling to get chores out of the way early in the day. While I was cleaning, Rich was napping quietly on the couch. The nap time was a strong indicator how much Destin wore him out, because Rich is not the napping type. After he awoke and I showered, we went to lunch, ran some errands and got ready for Dan's house.

Dan Flanagan invited us over to grill out and watch the UK game Saturday evening. We had a wonderful time and Dan's slow-smoked ribs were to die for. He slow roasted them on low heat on the grill with hickory flavored wood chips. As a topping, he put brown sugar which melted to form a glaze and the last two hours, he sprayed the ribs with apple cider. He seasoned them perfectly and the sweetness of the brown sugar/apple cider glaze made them melt in your mouth.

Unfortunately, UK came close to tying the game against Mississippi State, but no such luck. It was another heart-breaker, but hopefully they will win the last three games of the season.

Sunday was a big day. Rich's friend Tony, invited us to the Bengals/Dolphins game using four free tickets he received from a distributor. We were seated on the 30 yard line, 8 rows off the field. It was an unbelievable view and we could just about reach out and touch the Bengals. That was my first NFL game experience (I've been in the locker room/weight room/practice facility for the Tennessee Titans and on the field/in the locker room for the Denver Broncos, but these were both in the off-season. Thanks, Kyle!) and a good one at that. Plus, free is always good. The Bengals couldn't pull through so the game resulted in a Dolphins win. Rich was excited to be cheering on his fantasy players who were playing for both teams. Rich wore his Carolina Panthers gear and Dan was suited up as a Patriot. At a college game, you don't see many people wearing team colors from a team that is not playing, but apparently at an NFL Game, this is socially acceptable. I saw many teams from the NFL in the crowd.

On our way home, we dropped Tony and Dan off at their homes in LaGrange. Since we don't get any trick-or-treaters at my condo, we stayed to enjoy the company of the kiddos in costume. Tony and his wife have a 7 month old daughter named Kalie. She was a Bengal Tiger for the day and played her role well.

Kalie didn't know what to think of her Daddy in a scary mask...
My best friend Sarah also sent me a picture of her twins, Barrett and Will all dressed up for Halloween. They are by far my favorite babies in the world and I can't believe they will be two on January 6th. Where has the time gone?
