The traveling man

2010 has been a good year for Rich and his travels. He has been all over the country and to Mexico and back.

Last Thursday he ventured to Washington, D.C. to see his good friend Adam as a birthday surprise. Adam and Mandy were relocated to D.C. this summer because Mandy is a dentist with the Air Force. She joined the armed forces, they paid for dental school at the University of Nebraska and as a pay back, she has to give them four years of service. Lucky Mandy; her orders took them to D.C. where she is a dentist inside the Pentagon. Yes, the same place the president and all the country's officials go for dental work.

I wish I had joined the service for the same reasons Mandy did. She will most likely never step foot in combat, has zero student loans and has a safe and secure well paying job that pays for their housing. Such a sweet deal!

Adam and Mandy were married June 19th in Omaha, Nebraska. Rich stood by Adam's side and I did a reading during the ceremony. We had a great time in Omaha and I was able to check both Nebraska and Iowa off my list of states to visit.

So far this year, Rich has traveled to:

February - Cruise - Miami, Key West and Cozumel, Mexico

May - San Diego (to visit Ryan Donohue who is an Officer in the NAVY), Alabama (golf trip along the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail), West Virginia (white water rafting for Ryan Knoth's Bachelor Party)

June - Omaha, Nebraska for Adam and Mandy's wedding

July - Cashiers, North Carolina - High Hampton Golf Resort with the Smith's

August - Cincinnati, OH for a couple Reds games

September - Gainesville, Florida for the UK/Florida football game

October - Destin, Florida - Work golf trip he won to the Sandestin Resort compliments of Kentucky Farm Bureau

November - Washington, D.C to visit Adam as a birthday surprise

Here and there are many trips to Lexington and Winchester for UK football/basketball and to visit Rich's family.

Last year we pinched every penny and spent every dime we had on wedding stuff so this year we have splurged and spent our money on fun stuff. Next year I'm going to Charlotte, NC to visit Sarah and my favorite twins. I am really looking forward to my trip to see my best friend and those sweet babies.

While Rich was away this weekend, I babysat my little cousins, Alex and Matthew Friday night. We went out to dinner and stopped by Pet Smart to check out the dogs. Unfortunately, they didn't have any dogs for us to pet, but we managed to buy Brian ten new goldfish for his pond. The boys had a ball picking out each fish they wanted and chose an appropriate name for each.

Saturday morning, the boys traveled to Owensboro, KY to play in The King of the Hill Classic football tournament. Teams from ten different states participated, but the J-town Dawgs took home the title! They had a first round bye so they didn't play until 7 PM Saturday night. They won 34-0. Sunday afternoon, they played in the semi-finals, kicked butt 24-0 which led them to the final game Sunday night at 7. The boys dominated. Alex and Matthew are only a year and a half apart and excel in every sport that they play. At family gatherings, Rich is no where to be found because he is always tossing the football, shooting hoops or playing baseball with the boys. They love him to death!

Saturday afternoon I had lunch with Valerie at Moe's. We spent three hours inside chatting about life. Time surely flies when you are having fun! I met my Mom at church and spent some time with her that evening. We had a condo showing on Friday so she had Kody and Molly for the weekend. Saturday night, I decided to bring JAG home with me and let her keep Kody and Molly one more night. JAG and I had a ball and he enjoyed being the only dog in the house, as you can tell... life is rough.

Rich's plane landed at 10:22 PM last night so needless to say, he was exhausted. I have a feeling he will be skipping the gym tonight.
