Another week has passed which means we are inching closer to meeting Tyler. It all still seems surreal to me that we are going to have a baby, so soon. Super Bowl Sunday was definitely a "Super Sunday" for my good friend Samantha. She welcomed Max Andrew into this world weighing 7 lbs., 9 oz. and measuring 21 inches long. I was able to visit them last night and hold her bundle of joy. Of course, holding a newborn made me want to fast forward to April 13th so I can hold my little miracle.
29 Weeks - Third Trimester
Size: about the size of a butternut squash
Development: Our little guy measures about 15 inches long and weighs close to two and a half pounds. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature and as his brain continues to develop, the size of his head is growing to make room. His bones are soaking up a lot of calcium so that means I need to be sure to replenish what with milk, cheese and yogurt. Plus, since he's growing bigger, I have to do my part to get plenty of protein, vitamins, folic acid and iron.
How far along: 29 weeks (7 months)
Total weight gain: 26 - my scale is definitely wrong. I asked my doctor this afternoon my total weight gain and this is it. Keep in mind, when I weigh at the doctor, I am fully clothed and today I even kept on my tall boots. So give or take a few pounds would be most accurate.
Maternity clothes: I have some maternity leggings that I wear all the time and a few sweaters, but for the most part, I wear the belly band with all my other pants and jeans.
Sleep: Some good nights, some bad nights.
Movement: The movement is more intense and I love it. Friday night was the first time I had my hand on my belly and he kicked my hand...and kept kicking. It was the best feeling. Rich laid his hand in the same spot and I felt him kick internally, but Rich said he didn't feel it. Hopefully soon. Last night both my Mom and Brian felt him kick several times. Brian said he's doing karate.
Gender: Boy
Belly Button in or out: In, but I have a feeling not for much longer!
What I miss: My back and hips not aching
What I am looking forward to: Feeling him move around and being able to feel where he is laying in my belly - such as where his head and booty are.
I had my monthly checkup today and all is well. The heartbeat was strong so I breathed a sigh of relief. This was my last monthly checkup, now I go every two weeks, then every week beginning mid March. I made all my appointments up until my due date. I can't believe it really is this soon! My due date is April 13th and my doctor will be on spring break. I see Dr. Price on April 12th, so we'll know more about my "due date" at that appointment.
