Why do long weekends come and go so quickly? Well, better yet, why do all weekends come to an end in the blink of an eye?
Labor Day weekend was a busy one, but fun was had by all. We ventured to Winchester Friday evening after work. Saturday morning we awoke early to walk door-to-door in several subdivisions helping campaign for Rich's Dad to be re-elected on November 2nd. He has 21 years in Fiscal Court service and is certainly the best candidate, but you still have to ask people for their votes. Rich and I started walking neighborhoods at 8:30 AM and wrapped up about 3, just in time for kick-off. We did take a small lunch break to visit with Nan and eat some home cookin', but back to work we went shortly thereafter. The weather was gorgeous and we got plenty of exercise so we didn't mind being outside one bit. Suzy made t-shirts that read "VOTE" on the front and "Rick Smith for Clark County Commissioner" on the back. People were receptive of our post cards and pens and most know of Rich's Dad so they kindly offered up their vote. He has done many great things for Clark County and most people are aware of all his dedication and hard work.
I created a website for Rick that seems to be giving people more information on why he is the best person to be elected. Rick has been a magistrate for many, many years and this year they are changing the infrastructure. They are going from seven magistrates down to three county commissioners. Rick only has one opponent so we feel certain he will win.

Sunday we went to the Daniel Boone Pioneer Festival and handed out post cards and Popsicles. It was another beautiful day in the neighborhood. Later that afternoon we made our way back to Louisville so we could take a bike ride and have dinner with friends. We were able to catch up with Jaclyn, Taylor and Baby Jackson at Chili's. We had an enjoyable dinner with fantastic company. Jackson is growing like a weed and has the sweetest personality. I managed to hold the baby, keep him content and eat my grilled chicken sandwich...at the same time. I also ate my veggies with a fork using my right hand...gotta get prepared for motherhood sometime!
Monday was another fun day. Rich and I tossed our bikes into the back of the Jeep and made our way to Cherokee Park for a morning bike ride. We rode several miles through the park and took in all the sights and sounds. Being inside Seneca and Cherokee Parks are two of my favorite things to do in Louisville. People and dogs are everywhere exercising - riding bikes, running, walking or roller blading. The atmosphere is extremely motivating plus I enjoy seeing all the dogs running or walking with their owners. Jennifer and I have taken our dogs to Cherokee many times and we always have a great time. The dogs love being around the other dogs and enjoy the long hilly walk. I am anxiously awaiting the cooler fall temperatures so we can resume our long walks through the park.
Monday afternoon we grabbed a quick bite to eat at Logan's Roadhouse. We had a buy one get one free coupon so we took advantage of the savings. Rich helped a friend with his fantasy football draft so Kody and I took a ride in the Jeep to my Mom's house. She and I ran some much needed errands in the Jeep and had a ball.
I hope everyone had a relaxing Labor Day weekend. Cheers to a four day work week!
